Robot Covers
LFP™
covers provide unique protection of your automated equipment.
PTFE has ideal properties for protective cover materials on robots
because of its across-the-board chemical resistance and high temperature
capability. However, PTFE has traditionally been mechanically
weak and in need of a reinforcement. A reinforcement predominantly
used for protective covers has been fiberglass, which has poor
flexing and chemical resistance capability.
Textiles Coated International has developed an all-PTFE material
with excellent mechanical capability called LFP Industrial Product. In flexing tests where PTFE-coated fiberglass lasts
for 180,000 cycles prior to failure, LFP in its thickest form
lasts for 3,200,000 cycles. LFP is a material that is designed
to handle the movements of the robot while remaining unaffected
by wet, corrosive, and severe temperature exposure.
In addition, LFP is easily sewed, heat-sealed, or molded into
many flexible shapes and sizes. Constant exposure to moisture
or wash-downs will not degrade the material. LFP is ideal for
clean rooms, meets FDA approval, and passes most fire retardant
testing. The product can be made conductive (anti-static) and
comes in many different colors and thicknesses. LFP can also be
used in cryogenic applications.
